Cape Gooseberry Jam Recipe

In this article, I will take you through the process of making cape gooseberry jam. If you have never tried this recipe, then you are missing something that is not only delicous but easy to make at home. Some people refer to it as golden gooseberries or Physalis.

The first time I tried this is when my little daughter picked a lot of ripe gooseberries in our garden and I had to find out the best recipe I can do with them. We tried the this jam and amazingly, it came out perfectly well.

The process of making the recipe was easy. We had first to prepare the berrries by removing the husks. My daughter took about 12 minutes, then I had to clean them and the overall time we took preparing them was about 15 minutes.

After cleaning the gooseberries, I placed them in a deep pot then cooked them for about 10 minutes. I then added sugar and lemon, stirred to dissolve, and continued cooking in low heat for about 20 minutes while stirring. I had to continuously stir to prevent them from burning.

When 20 minutes were over, I scooped part of it to my plate and left it to cool, then pushed with a spoon and it wrinkled, then I knew it is ready.

The last step I took was to pour the jam in sterilized jars that I had prepared and took a small piece with my little daughter. Of course, I stored the rest of the jam so we can take whenever we want.
